Solving JEE Maths Faster: Using AI to Find Your Weak Chapters

By Dr. A. Sudhakar, Principal Director, AS IAS, IT & NEET Academy, Hyderabad

For most JEE aspirants, Mathematics is the section that eats the clock. Questions are long, calculations are heavy, and one stuck question can cost several minutes. Many students respond by practising everything harder.

But slow Maths is rarely a problem with every chapter. Usually three or four weak chapters cause most of the lost time and marks. Find those chapters, fix them, and your whole Maths section speeds up. An AI Co-Pilot makes finding them fast and exact.

Step 1: Test every chapter, briefly

Write a short diagnostic test for each chapter: 10 JEE Main-level questions with a timer. Record two numbers for each chapter:

  • Accuracy: how many of the 10 you got right, as a percentage.
  • Time: the average minutes you took per question.

Your AI Co-Pilot can create these tests for you. Do one or two chapters a day, and within three to four weeks you will have a full picture.

Step 2: Let AI turn your scores into a report

Paste your accuracy and time for each chapter into your AI Co-Pilot and ask it to rank them. A simple chapter report shows at a glance where your marks are leaking.

In this sample, four chapters fall below the 60% line. They are the starting point, not the whole syllabus.

Step 3: Diagnose each chapter by speed and accuracy

A weak chapter is not always weak in the same way. Combine your two numbers, place each chapter in one of four boxes, and apply that box’s fix.

This is the BRAIN-X principle at work: diagnose first, then train exactly what is missing.

Step 4: Speed techniques that work in JEE Maths

  • Learn standard results. Common formulas and results save several lines of working in every question.
  • Use the options. In MCQs, test the given options or substitute simple values instead of solving fully.
  • Check special cases. Put x = 0, x = 1 or a simple angle to rule out wrong options quickly.
  • Draw a quick sketch. A rough graph often solves coordinate and calculus questions faster than algebra.
  • Write neatly in steps. Most calculation errors come from crowded rough work.

In JEE Main, three hours for 75 questions gives an average of 2.4 minutes per question. Strong chapters help you finish faster, leaving extra time for the hard ones.

Let your AI Co-Pilot run your diagnosis

• “Create a 10-question JEE Main diagnostic test on [chapter], from easy to hard. Show answers only after I submit.”
• “Here are my accuracy and time per chapter: [data]. Rank my chapters and place each in fast/slow and accurate/careless groups.”
• “Show me the fastest method to solve this question, and a shortcut I can reuse: [paste question].”
• “List the standard results in [chapter] that save the most time in JEE Main.”

Check every method and answer yourself. If a shortcut does not make sense to you, do not use it in the exam.

Frequently asked questions

How often should I repeat the chapter diagnosis?

Once every six to eight weeks. Your weak chapters will change as you improve.

Should I skip my weakest chapter?

No. First bring it to a basic level with easy questions. Even partial preparation gives you sure marks.

Is it better to be fast or accurate?

Accuracy first, then speed. A fast wrong answer costs marks because of negative marking.

Which order should I attempt Maths questions in?

Answer questions from your strong chapters first. Return to the long questions in a second round.

Can AI solve Maths problems wrongly?

Yes, it can make mistakes. Use it to diagnose and explain, and always check its working step by step.
